Maesglas Play Area’s Queens Diamond Jubilee celebration
The Maseglas Play Area has been used by the people of Cardigan for over 50 years and is the only play area and public space that can be used by the public, all year round.
We want to keep it that way.
Over the last few years, the developers have had their eye on this area of land and want to drastically reduce the available play and public space.
In its place, they want to build houses and flats and carve a road through the site. A site that they say is not used by the public.
Previous planning applications by Tai Ceredigion have generated a huge response from the local community, objecting to any development of the Maesglas play area. This has led to a previous application being withdrawn by Tai Ceredigion and two further applications being declined by the town council, the county council and the appeal by Tai Ceredigion, being rejected by the Welsh Assembly Planning Inspectorate.
When yet another application was made by Tai Ceredigion, the huge public outcry led to the formation of the North Cardigan Action and Support Group. This fourth application was again declined by the town council, the county council and again by the Welsh Assembly Planning Inspectorate.
Our mission is simple….
To keep Maesglas Play Area as a play area, for now, for the future and for everyone.
